The Scottish Government suicide prevention program Choose Life has published National Guide on Suicide Prevention in Rural Areas, based on our 2011 work with Cameron Stark and Vincent RiordanA Conceptual Model of Suicide in Rural Areas

Conceptual model of suicide in rural areas
The conceptual model places suicide within a social, economic and cultural context. There are several potential uses for the model:
• to categorise interventions
• to identify areas where research has already been conducted and where there
are gaps
• to serve as a base for discussions between service commissioners and service
providers on interventions
• to identify areas of promising preventative work.
